Simple preflop decision?
I'm in the process of reading PNL for the first time (just getting to Planning around commitment), and I don't have enough sense in me to even know where to begin thinking in this situation.
Second orbit and no interesting reads. Using REM doesn't really help me right now because I don't know what range to use. I am about as deep as PFR, I own the button, and he raised two early position limpers. This makes me think I don't want to make a huge preflop reraise, especially because I don't even know if (at these stakes) I am anywhere likely to obtain the good results of isolating the raiser or taking it down preflop. So I just call and take a flop? PokerStars $0.01/$0.02 No-Limit Hold'em - 8 players Hand Converter Tool from DeucesCracked.com BB: $1.48 UTG: $1.60 UTG+1: $4.97 MP1: $2.98 MP2: $7.63 CO: $1.74 Button: $2.96 SB: $5.10 Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG calls $0.02, UTG+1 calls $0.02, MP1 raises to $0.10, MP2 folds, CO folds, Hero calls $0.10... |

Re: Simple preflop decision?
I think one of the problems here could be that your opponents are not necessarily thinking about relative $ but absolute $ instead.
The other day I wanted to set up my HUD layout for Stars NL and bought in @ 2NL with $1 and just hang in there until I had my layout just so. I emerged 6 orbits later 50c poorer. The great thing about the book is, at my level, that I can just study the Basics, Fundamentals, Range, Equity....and leave the last pages (SPR) for later when I'm ready for it (hopefully before March when Vol II comes out). |

Re: Simple preflop decision?
Generally I would "3bet" to about $0.30 in this situation.
What I like about this: 1. You have position and you want to raise more often in position 2. You are creating a favorable SPR if you flop top pair. If just the raiser calls, the pot is $0.60 which gives you an SPR around 4 or 5. Great for an easy commitment decision whether you flop TPTK+ or a good draw. If all of them call, well they're idiots and you know you have a good game. 3. You smash everyone's implied odds 4. You usually get either VALUE, isolation, or the pot 5. You can probably fold to a push What you might not like: "They'll only call with a better hand" but that might not be the case. Often MP1 will call with a wide range of holdings especially at these stakes. Now if you smooth call and the limpers (+blinds?) call then it's not bad either. The pot would be around $.50 which also gives you an SPR around 5. In this case, you've given better odds to the crappy hands to flop two pair but OTOH you let in the ace-rags that will pay you off. |

Re: Simple preflop decision?
This is an easy 3 bet PF. If they all fold, fine, if not, fine. I would shovel my money in with this hand PF.

Re: Simple preflop decision?
Definitely standard to 3bet here. I like all of man of means' reasons, especially 2. Get the pot big so you're not afraid to commit with TPTK.

Re: Simple preflop decision?
I really want to raise this to force out the two limpers. I would also like to see if the original raiser comes back over the top at me.
