Washington State Pending Legislation - Online Poker
I sent this info to the PPA yesterday. I received an email from State Senator Derek Kilmer, who responded to my email sent via the PPA website regarding online poker.
House Bill # 1243 would provide for an, "Affirmative Defense to unlawful internet gambling if the defendant comitted the offense in his or her primary residence." In short it's pending legislation that would make it ok to play online poker from home in Washington State. I recommend all Washington State residents utilize the emailing feature on the PPA website to write the Governor and Legislators and urge their support of this bill. The PPA software will send it to each of your Representatives, properly addressed and formatted. Thanks! |

Yay, that way you'll only be committing a federal felony, not a federal felony AND a state misdemeanor

[/ QUOTE ] It takes like 2 minutes of reading legislation threads to realize he's spewing crap in every thread here. Blah blah RICO blah blah DOJ says it's illegal is the standard response now. |

Re: Washington State Pending Legislation - Online Poker
Well actually there seems to be some confusion here regarding Bill#'s and their content. HB# 2127 reduces the charge from a Class C Feloony to a Misdemeanor. HB# 1243 actually would make it lawful to play poker online from your home. Check the following webpage for reference: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/sear...&year=2007

Re: Washington State Pending Legislation - Online Poker
It's probably been discussed on end - but the individual state's themselves can legalize online poker for its residents right?

Re: Washington State Pending Legislation - Online Poker
Actually there is no confusion here, it's quite obvious. Rep Strow, the sponsor of the first bill (hb 1243) determined that it wasn't going to get to committee, but worked a deal for a 'compromise' bill which is going to committee. I'm sure that we can thank Rep. Conway for cutting the balls off of hb 1243 by blocking it from committee..

I was just going by the text of the HB's that are on the WA State Legislature link I provided. Not a big deal...sorry if I misquoted something. I admit to not going back and reading all the old posts, I just joined this forum. I had just received the email from the Senator the day before, so I thought it was current info...glad you got a handle on it. ps: Thanks for the "Welcome to February" link. Nice touch. |
