Default 5 outs - when to play when to fold?

Please can somebody help me with 5 out situations on the flop.

Is it +ev to call with 5 clean outs with 3 or more players in a raised or unraised pot?

The situation I mean is say I am in the big blind with 82 and the folp cones q72 rainbow.

I am sure I am behind however an 8 or a 2 would put me in the clover.

Under what circumstances can I make this call?
Thanks.

1. if its likely you have the best hand and youre HU

2. if its mutliway and you get still the right odds after you discounted your outs somewhat

you never can count full 5 outs if its multiway in my book so the pot must offer you overlay imho

Depends on the odds, the players, and your hand (obviously, I guess).

If it's a raised pot and I flop a pair, barring that my outs aren't heavily tainted, I am generally going to be always be seeing a turn.

But if, for example, MP (26/19/1.4) limps, awful button limps, and I check 84 in the BB, and the flop comes

a) KJ4, or
b) T94

I'll usually be checkfolding both, if I decide to check and MP bets. It gets tougher if it's checked to last-to-act and he's an autofirer. I peel a lot there (board-texture dependent).

IMM you can't really say you have 5 outs when one of your pairs is 2's because it's so easily counterfeited; if it's rainbow in a largish field I would think that's even more of an argument to c-f.

post some 5 out hands ur unsure about, its way easier to learn that way then through generalities. Once u get the idea about which specific spots u should peel or fold then u can grasp the overall concepts better than trying to impliment it the other way.
