Default Mozilla Thunderbird

I know I am going to sound like an idiot. How do I get Thunderbird to startup with Windows?

You should be able to place a shortcut to Thunderbird in your startup folder. That should be C:\Documents and Settings\Red Lion\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Obviously replace C: if that isn't your primary drive, and replace Red Lion with whatever your username is on the system.

Drag a shortcut in there and it will start up when the machine first boots. You can alter the properties to make it minimized (etc) also if that helps.

Under your start menu->programs, is a folder called "Startup" If you put a shortcut to Thunderbird (or any other program, for that matter) it will start when you login.

Another noob Thunderbird question. Is there any way to keep it off my taskbar when minimized? I'm used to Incredimail and their system tray notification icon. I could click on it to open the program when mail came in as opposed to keeping the program open all the time. I'd be surprised if Tbird didn't have something similar.

Yep there is an extension for Thunderbird (and Firefox) that does just that. I've been using it for about a year and it works very well. Here is the link... http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/
