He was one of the best card counter. So I wonder if he would have lose a bit of an edge with recent automatic shuffling machine and online play. (and I am talking about poker!, not only blackjack).

I can confirm that even the simple KO count is extremely effective in a hand-shuffled holdem game. I have made literally hundreds of dollars using it.

Only if you use an Ace side count. Counting the aces in poker is muy importante. Ask Guy Laliberte.

If he were still alive and sober, I'd say he'd be the winningest tournament player ever (by far), and that he'd be a winner in the biggest games, especially the HU and SH games.

People need to remember he (i think this was confirmed) had an IQ that was genius, and not genius like a *legit* 140, but probably more like 180.

Like he said, the only one who ever beat him was himself. If Stu Ungar had the self discipline to not do drugs and bet sports, and otherwise keep himself healthy, I would bet he would have made over $100 million by now. In Nolan Dalla's book it says that it has been estimated he won over $30 million playing cards, and you have to remember that was before the poker boom when the poker economy was like, what, maybe 10% as big as it is today in the 90's, and maybe 5% the size it is today back in the late 70's and 80's.

You should seriously look him up on Hendon Mob, his stats are so [censored] sick, even if you consider the smaller fields of back then.

If you ever want to know just how good Stu Ungar was at NLHE tournaments, just ask Billy Baxter next time you're in the Bellagio sports book, lol.

Isn't that burden of the super-genius though? Life is not challenging enough so too often they succumb to things that actually do make life more challenging.

It wouldn't matter how he's doing, he'd be so rich from the many endorsement deals.

He'd do pretty good in live games and tournaments, but the internet pros in NVG would think he was terrible.
