Help me choose my new MP3 player
First I want to just say that ipods are not an option. I need something that works with subscription music, specifically Yahoo Unlimited. Here is the list of MP3 players Yahoo claims are compatible:
Compatible "out of the box": Audiovox SMT 5600 Smartphone Creative Labs Zen MicroPhoto Creative Labs Zen Portable Media Center Creative Labs Zen Sleek Creative Labs Zen Sleek Photo Creative Labs Zen Vision Creative Labs Zen Vision M Dell Axim x50v Dell Ditty Gateway Photo Jukebox iRiver H10 iRiver H320 iRiver H340 iRiver Portable Media Center-120 iRiver T10 iRiver T30 iRiver U10 Philips GoGear HDD 1630 Samsung Yepp YH-999 Portable Media Center Sandisk Sansa m200 series Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F20 Compatible after a free firmware upgrade: Archos AV400 Creative Labs Zen Micro Creative Labs Zen Touch Creative Labs Zen Xtra Dell DJ 20GB (Gen 2) Dell DJ 30GB PalmOne LifeDrive RCA Lyra RD2762 RCA Lyra RD2765 Samsung YH-925GS I know pretty much nothing about any of these and would like to at least be pointed in the right direction on which ones I should research. I see that some of these aren't purely MP3 players. I will only use this for listening to music and I don't really want to pay extra for features I won't use (like the ability to play video). Thanks in advance for any suggestions that are made. |

Re: Help me choose my new MP3 player
Wht end of the price scale are you looking for?
If you want a less flashy version of the ipod, go with Creative Zen. Dell DJ is also good for the price but it's pretty bulky. If you want a sexier player go with the iRivers, which imho is the closest ipod competitor and is about the same price (more expensive in some cases) than the ipod. The model depends on how much storage you want. |

Re: Help me choose my new MP3 player
The key is getting something I like, not how much it costs. I'm probably looking to spend what I would if I got an Ipod.

Re: Help me choose my new MP3 player
I've heard great things about the iRiver line but no personal experience with them.
I did own a Creative Zen Nomad. It's not on your list because it's older than what is on the list. It was a 20GB player and I was very happy with it. I used it for all kinds of activities on a nearly daily basis for three years. It finally died. Could be the battery, but since it was older, I replaced it with an iPod rather than repairing it. Creative puts out decent stuff at good value. |
