Default 360 eBay Warranty Question

Wondering if anybody else had any experience with this. In the 360 warranty it states that it only gives the warranty to the person who bought the 360 from a retail purchaser, but with a few exceptions.

If I buy one NiB from eBay, would that fall under one of these exceptions?

depends on your jurisdiction and if the seller is a professional. Then it would certainly expand. If you buy it from an individual, you should make sure that he gives you the receipt that he got when he bought the system. Then you are just acting as his proxy/agent (don't know the precise english term) when you are bringing it in.

remember: this is kind of legal advice. So be carefull. Much emphasis lies on the "depends on jurisdiction" part.

From this thread it looks like alls you need is the serial number for any repairs. But if anything has been done to the console that would void the warranty, then you're out of luck. Maybe best to just call 800-4MYXBOX to be certain? This has to be a pretty common question.

I called in to get my 'coffin' for my dead 360. All they ask for is the serial #. They don't ask for anything else, not even a copy of the receipt to be sent in.
