simple laptop HD question (with pic!)

So my girlfriends POS compaq laptop hard drive tanked out, so I was just going to replace it. When I pulled out the hard drive it says its an AT drive, however when I look online for replacement drives, all I see are ATA drives...Is that the same thing? Here is a pic of the connecting pins on the drive



I cant find a single AT laptop drive online, but I cant see a pic of the pins on an ATA drive to know if they are the same, because I remember them being a male connector and this POS is a female plug......im soooo confused, can anyone help??
