He thought forever and called with KQ, said "I heard you were sick" and I don't know what he really meant but damn. Still not sure what I think about the hand.

Also, I'm pretty surprised so many people want to follow through on the turn. Feels like guys never dump anything they were willing to call with on the flop.

And Durrrr, if he checks river I think I have to either check or make some big overbet, probably check.

25/50 Villain is tight and seems to be thinking. Not a regular and doesn't know me and we haven't tangled.

7 or 8 handed.

He has 7000ish I cover. Folded to him in MP he raises to 200 I call with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on the button. Blinds fold.

$475 flop 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]k[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
he bets 400 I raise to 1100 he calls

$2675 turn 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
he checks, I think and check

$2675 river Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
He bets 1700 and I push fastish, making it $4000 to go back to him.

having gotten to the turn like this, stnd imo. A more difficult question is what to do if he chks river to you.

I thought you guys never checked behind boats with deep stacks. If this is true what can you possibly be repping on the riv?

He probably meant that he heard you were good enough to make this move with air and maybe even AK and therefore he had to call you down when he would fold to most players. Sounds like your read on his hand was spot on, but your read on the player was a bit off. I think your line is very good, though, and agree with your and durr's posts throughout.

<<<SSNL donkey. With these stacks; how often are we checking 55/45/4x on the turn here? Aren't we almost always betting so 2 check/ bet/ calls can get it in on the river, rather than depending on the river to go bet/raise/call?

yea, you mean it's a good line (and it is) but it won't work on someone who doesn't realise he loses to AA.

Why would you ever check the turn with a hand that beats KQ if this was true?

I don't think you are doing a very good job repping anything that beats KQ. I could still see this work a decent amount of the time but I doubt a good thinking player will fold KQ often enough, especially not if knows you're capable of this kind of move (which he evidently did).
