Default blackjack chart question

maybe this question is stupid, but since i want to begin casino-whoreing i rather ask it now.

lets say i use this chart

my A,6 stands against dealer's 9 so i hit.
i get an 5 and have 12 now.

do i go on using this chart now with my 12 against dealer's 9?

Yes.

There are some more sophisticated basic strategies which change depending on which cards you hold instead of just your total, but they only provide small gains, especially in multi-deck games. Almost everyone who uses basic strategy uses one which depends only on the dealer's up card and your total, regardless of which cards make up your total.
