The right fold, or too hasty?

I recently joined a game on Pokerstars and was wondering if I made the correct lay down or not. I am very new to the table, so I have little information on the other players tendencies. Anyway, here is the history:

UTG+2 mucked and WON $7.75 (+$4.25 NET)


Since I raised 4xBB on pre-flop, I put UTG+2 on an upper range of hands or pockets. On the post-flop, due to my pot-size bet and his flat call I assumed he had something decent. However, because of him leading out on the turn I was thinking that he could be on a steal, that he wanted to protect trips due to the flush board, or he did in fact hit the flush. Hence, I am not sure if I made the right fold here, and unfortunately I do not know UTG+2's hole cards.

Hi, Brett. Without more info, this is an OK fold. However, it's the perfect bluffing card for UTG+2.

You should post hands in the strategy forums (in the correct spot for limit, pot limit, no limit, etc.) with the blinds in the subject. You'll get much more feedback. You'll catch on.

That looks like a decent fold. You're likely going to face a river bet as well, so it's really costing you a lot more than 4.75 to get to showdown. So when you call the turn, you're praying you're not drawing dead (if you're beat, you probably have an average of 0-2 outs), and that he won't bet the river. Also, you're going to have to fold up to 20% of rivers when a fourth spade drops and he bets again.

Probably a decent fold. Although he could show AQ AJ a lot here.

i say based on this info it was a good fold, he could've called your pre-flop and post-flop raises with a number of hands that beat you. That said, if he is an aggressive player it was probably a steal, but still a good laydown.
