just bought a ps3 newb questions

just picked up a 40gb ps3. a have a couple questions. can use the ps3 as a computer for browsing the net, playing poker, if i hooked it up to a monitor or lcd tv?
if so what kind of adapaters would i need for this?
can i play online for free?

i dont even know if this type of stuff is allowed to be posted sorry if it isn't. somebody help me out if they can thanks

You could install linux and basically use it as a desktop pc hooked to a tv, dunno if there are poker clients for linux tho.

There aren't and because this is a cell processor there isn't any way to emulate it optimally yet either. But if you wanted to play through a browser the PS3 has one built in, though it's clunky to use. Installing Linux was really easy and has a much better browser.

ok yeah so i just turned the ps3 on and i figured that [censored] out. is it possible to download applications thru the ps3? that might of been answered already but im not so good with this stuff.
