Default Is this ok?

A friend of mine asked if he can post about his employer giving away $20k a week. I told him I thought a one time post would be ok as his is something the 2+2 readers would want to know about.

RR - have him give you the text first to make sure its not spammy, and is in fact a public service message. If you clean up the text I'm sure he will be safe.

He works in a B&M poker room and they are giving away $20k a week. I don't have all the details in front of me. And besides I was on my way to bed when I posted that.

what he means is.. it's not like they are just giving a sack of 20k a week away.. there are probably tons of terms and conditions blah blah, when you get right down to it he just wants free advertising.

He has posted. I think it is fine as people often ask in B&M about what is going on in the local casinos. He found a thread where they were discussing the casinos in Tunica and put it in there.

Is this the post you're talking about?

Right now, the Gold Strike is giving money away as if they don't want to get caught with it.

Last week, they started paying a $100 bonus for getting a full house cracked (you must use both hole cards). Making quads is worth $100, a straight-flush $150, and a Royal is worth $200. Obviously, getting those hands cracked=jackpot.

I hear that this promotion has paid out about $3,000/day. That's $20k/week going back to the players, and they plan on running this until the end of the year.

They also have drawings five days a week, good for close to another $1000/day, spread throughout the day ($100 here, $300 there). And they have a free Football Squares pool on Sunday Night and Monday Night, each good for another $1000 ($100 for the first quarter, $500 for the fourth quarter, etc).

I've never seen a card room give away money like this.

(I consulted with a B&M moderator before posting this. He feels confident that my motivation is to share this valuable info with the 2+2 community, as opposed to being motivated to shill for a local cardroom.)

[/ QUOTE ]

If so, there's no way a cardroom (or employee of cardroom) should be able to spam the B&M forum with this. It's just a promotion designed to draw players to their room. It doesn't matter if you think this particular promotion is very good.

Well i the reds agree with you I will have to reconsider this whole thing. People want to know about what is going on in B&M casinos. To suggest that it can't be told on when someone comes asking about what is going on in Tunica is crazy. This is not similar affiliate spam it would be similar to discussing the iron man stuff at full tilt; that also is a promotion designed to bring people to the poker room, maybe we should keep it a secret.

The difference here is that an employee of the casino is spamming the website. He has a vested interest in the promotion.

It would be fine if a typical poster, somebody without a vested interest, posted the information.

Dynasty -

Provided the spam is a one off event from a contributor to the forums we have generally allowed this. Its a topic I have discussed before with Mat, its Gray but if its in the best interest of the B&M forum readers then we allow it. Personally if its posted before I am notified (like in RR's case) then I send the poster a PM explaining that spam is not permitted on 2+2, but if its a one-time occurrence than we can let it slide. Other times if the post was very spammy in tone then i deleted the post, sent back the text to the OP and explained why it needed to be edited before posting. of course I ALWAYS encourage the poster to consider purchasing a banner ad if they really want to reach the 2+2 consumer, so far that hasn't worked but I have a new trick up my sleeve that I'm working on to solve this minor problem.

2+2 also allows similar one-time notices in the books, software, and Zoo.

cliff notes: Yes its spammy, but we overlook that type of spam for a 1x occurrence.
