Couple weeks ago, my bro-in-law was walking his dog (Lab) and he went by this house. As he was walking by a pitt bull tears out of the house after them. Being a hundred feet or so my bro and the Lab made it home but not inside the fenced year. The pitt-bull and the lab start fighting and my brother grabbed a shovel, when he got back to beat it, it was gone. 15-20 seconds of fighting, the lab had one ear torn off and a bite down to the bone on her leg.

OP,

Awesome. I have little doubt that your dog is part dachshund. They are great dogs and are very protective and loyal.

wtf how is that dog supposed to hunt badgers.

[/ QUOTE ]

Regular dachshunds grow up to maybe even 35 pounds. The OP most likely has a mix involving the smaller varieties which will grow between 8-15 pounds. The smaller dachshunds were bred to hunt smaller rodents, like rats.

My fiancee has a dachshund. About 12 pounds:

if the pit bull got scared of a tiny little dog then it wasnt going to do anything anyways.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you're right, but nonetheless, the neighbors need to fix their fence, for the protection of the pit bull as well as that of the neighborhood. Given the reputation of pit bulls, it is likely that the dog will end up getting put down if they don't control it better.

This is a perfect example of why pitbulls suck as pets.

They hate other dogs too much. It's in their genetic makeup to want to rip their throats out. What happens when a 12-year-old is walking their dog and this happens?

Let the flaming by apologist pit owners begin...

Man, ditto with German Shepherds. They are simply attack beasts, nobody should own one.

FWIW, i have an Australian cattle dog and my neighbor has a female pit bull and they play and wrestle all the time and when the pit bull goes in for a bite on my dog she restrains herself as soon as her teeth hit his skin. Pretty cool to see actually. Also after the 8 or so matches they've had my dog has been the only one to draw blood(accidentally).
