Re: Things you love about live poker
-soft/passive games
-easy money -occasional hot girls -hot cocktail waitress -most friendly dealers -tourists with 100 Franklins in their pockets -regulars who think they are better than online players -TV w/ sports and poker shows Don't like :higher rake and dealer tip, less amount of hands /hr but the bigger stack and softer game/opponents can compensate for that. |

Re: Things you love about live poker
What do I love....
Making money first and foremost Raking in a huge pot The look on someone's face after I just outplayed them for their entire stack And I just flat enjoy playing this game live. It's nice having a hobby that pays more than my job does. |

Re: Things you love about live poker
Man... there have been some great ones:
- Raising pre-flop in the Omaha 8/OB game where I'm the only person under the age of 90 and having my grandmother bitch at me, and shoot me dirty looks for 4 hours. - Playing 1/2NL and just sitting there waiting for the nuts and knowing that some fish is STILL going to donk off all of his chips to you. - Smashing strictly online players when they try to employ the same strategies in a live game. - Giggling at the 21 year old kid who has made a few bucks on the interet who thinks he is going to come in and be Jamie Gold and tries to make outlandish plays... Only to be called by my bottom pair because I can see his heart beating out of his chest while he tries to pull off a stupid bluff. - Double fisting my drinks - In Vegas, playing at some easier rooms at 4am and just waiting for the drunken tourists to just come in and dump a couple hundo before passing out. - Cracking the guy who overplays his aces with my 9-10 suited and watching him flip out and scream that he can't believe I called him with that trash... as I stack all of his chips. - Mowing down the guy with pocket Kings who just can't seem to fold them when the flop comes A-8-3 rainbow. - Getting there - Flopping the nuts - Making that one old guy so pissed off at the table because of chatter that he feels compelled to call the floor over... Then the floor gives you a half-hearted reprimand, and smiles, because they all hate that old grumpy bastard, too! - Knowing that in most places, simply playing A-B-C poker will make you a winning player. - Punishing the limpers - Chip Tricks - Massages as a reward for being up - Watching 5 plasma TV's at once - New Friends, getting table respect after a few hours for being a solid player, getting along with the dealers. |

Re: Things you love about live poker
I like money.
And the general stupidity of live poker. I also loved it when I took so many racks off of the table that when I set them down at the cage, the stack teetered over and I spilled like $4000 worth of chips behind the cashier's window. Whoops. It was hilarious to see the cage boss and the cashier scramble around picking up my money. (and before anyone tells me that I'm a dumbass for not coloring up, yadda yadda yadda the Borgata doesn't allow color-ups in the poker room). |

Re: Things you love about live poker
Free Food. Local cardroom has a great buffet on friday nites and asking and getting a comp makes me feel like a whale, even though i'm not.
I like most of the dealers in the cardroom I play at. Oggling cocktail waitresses. watching sports, shooting the crap between hands. Stupid prop bets red/black, etc. Walking to the cage with a rack or two. A seemingly endless supply of donks (at least at 1/2 NL). Somewhat related. The gamblers mentality/tunnel vision combined with lack of record-keeping that makes people THINK they are winning players, when they aren't. A $36/hr winrate at 1/2 NL over 150 hours. I don't even think I'm that good. My friends have hobbies that COST them money. |
