Marginal spot....3b pot top pair
villian is 34/16/1.5 havent tangled with him yet but i think hes stationy, is this an easy fold? Does anyone check flop, and what about the turn, anyone like a bet instead of a check? How does this change if villian is agressive?

Re: Marginal spot....3b pot top pair
As played i'd call this and c/f river probably. I can see him betting here with many hands you beat trying to take it away from you.
An alternative line would be to bet out on the turn but i'm not sure if i like that. Hands that call you will have you crushed and you fold out all hands you beat. |

Re: Marginal spot....3b pot top pair
yuck... smells like AK. but it can be AJ.
theoretically you should go broke in this spot. Is the 140 + 77 + 77 + 106 = 400ish worth it? I think you should moe in on your opponent as you played it. even if opponent has you beat some of the time, there is already 406 in the pot. Just figure out whether it is more profitable to check /call here or check raise. If you call here, dont fold river please. BTW your hand look like QQ or somethig right now if that helps at all. Also bigger lfop bet would make this less awkward. |

My edge will be huge at some point later in another hand. Xorbie, what do you feel is a good ammt to bet on this flop? |

OK i didnt pay attention to stack sizes. Folding river is horrible if you check/call turn.

Re: Marginal spot....3b pot top pair
i dont like raise pf since i figure ur called by one of 3 hands - hands that have u dominated (ak, aq), or SCs and pps (neither the SCs or pps r likely to get into a big pot unless they have u crushed) - very unlikely that hes calling that raise with any hand u have crushed, so post flop this hand doesnt play very well, especially oop. Flop is a perfect opportunity to check IMO if villain has queens, jacks or tens, hes drawing to two outs and is more likely to call turn and river than flop and another street. There r no big draws on the board and therefore i think betting really accomplishes only two things (both of them bad) - scare away hands like pocket queens, jacks etc. which might pay u off if u check flop - or, a bet will simply be putting more money into a pot where u r crushed, not to mention that it makes ur turn process harder - if u bet ur only getting called by hands u beat and if u check, ur leaving urself open to a steal (btw i think this is a pretty good flop to float a c-bet in position)

Re: Marginal spot....3b pot top pair
how big of a sample do you have on villain? that will impact the hand a ton. Also, how often does he call 3-bets?
If villain is stationy, i don't understand why people think he could have AJ, why would he bet the turn here. w/o a strong read i begrudgingly get it ai here, then take a note on what he has. |
