CSC,

1) I wasnt calling gump a moron (implicity or not) with my post. In fact, I would say he is easily one of the most intelligent posters on this site.

I am, however, suprised that he thought homosexuality was necessarily evolutionarily disfavoured. Many put forth the argument, but none who have a good deal of knownledge of the subject (I assumed gump would be in that group, but, IIRC he is a physics man)

2) as to your specific remarks. I graduate with a degree in evolutionary biology this year. I have done research in the field. And I will enter a phD program in the field.

What are your credentials?

<TheDiablo> wtf? call me.
<TheDiablo> but i suspect
<TheDiablo> your version of that
<TheDiablo> probably takes like 50 paragraphs
<Anacardo> Right!
<Anacardo> It's a little more verbose.

I call a woman TWICE. If I don't get a response, I never call again.

Dom, you and I are very, very different cats when it comes to skirts. Functional, but completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Didn't I make that post about "less than tens" and "more than fifties?"

i don't know the post of which you speak...link?

Yeah, I'm not really too up on this stuff. I would be interested if you pointed me towards some references, and I'll have to think for a while about your arguments.

"...are homosexuals more likely to stay at home? ESPECIALLY given your assertion that YOUNGER male children are more likely to be gay, don't you think that the evolutionary advantage of gays staying home to help raise their siblings is diminished. Also, isn't it more likely that a gay child will find opposition from their parents (than a str8 child) and would therefore be MORE likely to leave home thereby DECREASING their inclusive fitness? "

Keep in mind that we are talking about societies in the time of the environment of evolutionary adaptedness (many many years ago). Off the top of my head, I dont know if people who didnt form a pair bond/had kids were more likely to help raise their relatives.

However, I would say its VERY likely. Considering we're talking like hunter gatherer groups here.

Also, CSC, what are your thoughts on termites, and how they are relevant to the discussion? Do you consider them all evolutionary dead ends?

CMI,

As someone who graduated with a CS Degree, I can't help but wonder if you're not doing the evolutionary biologist's version of knowledge wanking, the same kind so prevalent with computer geeks who can barely remember to take a breath in between explaining how AJAX works and how C/C++ is way, way better to learn how to program than these other creampuff languages. About a couple months after I graduated, I realized no one outside of academia and hardcore geekdom gives a [censored].

CSC,

Dude, shouldn't let yourself get baited like that.

Skunk,

I didnt bring up the topic of homosexuality (which I assume you're referring to, but correct me if Im wrong)

Someone said its evolutionarily disfavoured. Its not. I stated as such.

Should I have not stated taht?
