Default UK/US Computers work in Australia?

Hey,
Im going to Austalia from UK and am taking a desktop computer with me (I know that sounds stupid).

Anyway, I understand I will need a plug converter; but is it true some computers will not work in Australia because of some of the different power requirements? For example, we took a TV from UK to Sweden and it simply wouldnt work.

Thanks
