Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
I just got back from seeing Borat and it was hilarious and brilliant. The only thing funnier than this movie will be the outtakes from this movie.
Clearly in order to make this into a movie they had to combine scripted and improvised elements. This is clear in the scene that people are calling the funniest 3 minutes every put on film. I laughed so hard at this scene that I was crying when it was over. |

Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
I caught this movie last night and I thought it was terrific. My favorite part was probably also the scene mentioned in the OP's spoiler. Suprisingly, some people walked out during that crazy scene that happened an hour into the movie.

i didn't like it that much to be honest. dunno what more to say. [/ QUOTE ] I totally agree. Given the ridiclous reviews saying that this was the funniest movie ever, I was severely dissapointed. It is basically the skit, only for 80 minutes. It gets a 6/10 from me. |

Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
Several people walked out during the battle in the theater I was in as well. I don't know how you sit through the jew run, "tight like a 7 year olds anus" and found that scene to be too much.
The gypsy yard sale scene was my favorite, the way he talked to her was unbelievable. The scene with light shining on his face with just an axe in hand is a close second. He's also an amazing actor, his facial expression after the old woman told him she was a jew was priceless. |

Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
Austin had limited theaters showing the film. Saw it Friday night in a packed ass theater. It was funny. I haven't seen crowds react to a movie like that since Jackass. It was certainly a well edited movie. Sasha has some courage to do some of those scenes. The one at the rodeo was priceless.
I think I had my hands over my eyes for nearly a solid minute for one period. |

[ QUOTE ] Did anyone else's theater get dead silent at the end of the frat boy scene when they said things like "the minority has all the power", and "we wish we still had slaves"? My theater was silent as hell. [/ QUOTE ] Oh hell yeah. There were lots of black people in there too. There was a black chick sittin right next to me and I believe she said "oh my god, no he didn't" or something of that nature. It was a weird 10 seconds or so. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, same here. I kinda wanted to punch every guy in that RV. |

Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
The skits are funny, but given the reviews and reactions this movie was getting, I thought it would be different. I remember the first time I saw the Ali G show, I thought it was amazing and told everyone about it when it was first getting popular in the US and A. I feel like most of the critics had limited exposure to the show, and so for them, this movie was that amazing experience of first seeing it.
It was funny, but is it "the funniest movie of all time", as TIME magazine asked? As Bruno would say, "Thats a nisch nisch." I am extremely dissapointed. Also, tons of it seemed/was staged. |

Re: The official Borat Movie Thread
The sack and "not joke" at the end were by far the funniest parts of the movie.

Excellent movie. When he comes back to the table holding his bag of [censored] is priceless.
For those of you who say it is all staged are missing the point. Yes, some situations may be staged, but the people and their reactions are genuine, and that is the point. To those who who walked out or did not find it funny, please die, we have no use for you. |
