Is there any other option to have 2 external monitors (I prefer at 1600*1200) on my laptop?

VTbook

btw, you only have a vga plug, and 1920x1200 is going to be pushing the boundaries of what you can get down a vga cable.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT. My desktop machine will push 1920x1200 through VGA (Radeon X1300) but my laptop will not (Radeon M22?). 1920x1200 is technically out-of-spec for VGA, so it's a crapshoot.

[ QUOTE ]
you're not goign to have a high quality image, but it will almost certainly work.

[/ QUOTE ]

If it works, it will look pretty decent. I think the difference between VGA and DVI in practice is overblown imo

IS the VTbook card a good option to have two 20" monitors?

Yes. You can run one 20" off of the VTbook at 1600x1200 and one off of your laptop's vga port at 1600x1200.

I am still in doubt between 20" and 24".
24" is really the maximum of my budget (for monitor) and it costs almost as much as two 20" ones, but my laptop only supports one monitor and buying VTbook is also quite expensive.

Help!

the price difference you quote (nearly double) is not reflected in the improved value of the product (maybe 25% more value at best, imo, afaik, ymmv)

What do you mean?
The 24" is not worth double price you mean?
I would like two 20" monitors (or four 30" ), one now and then buy another in a month or two.
However because my laptop only supports 1 monitor and there is no cheap solution my choise is more difficult.

on the p4 machine i used until very recently as my main poker machine, i had a nvidia ti4200 graphics card.

[/ QUOTE ]

We have an old desktop, p4 with that videocard also (not mine).
So that will support two 20" monitors as well?
My idea was to buy one 20" first, then in a month or two buy another and connect it to the desktop (both) for a while and then later either buy VTbook or a new desktop.
Sounds good?

Correct. If you had $500, you'd be much better off with a 20" and $250, than one 24".

if it has two plugs in the back of it, it will.

i don't have it here in front of me, and i may have added extra monitors by way of pci cards.
