Internet on the bus
I did a google search but didn't turn up much...
I have heard of people having internet in their cars, etc... How does this work exactly? As I understand it, it needs to go through your cell phone. Is this correct? Is there another way? I'm asking because I am thinking of starting a charter bus company and would be interested in giving my customers/passengers access to the internet. But I don't even know if this is really possible... Any help would be appreciated. Also, I am in Canada (if it matters). |

Re: Internet on the bus
Here's what you do. You get Verizon Broadband Access, and and a Kyocera KR1. You plug the Verizon Broadband Access card into the Kyocera KR1, and the KR1 will now spread Wifi access throughout your bus.
Edit: Oops. You're in Canada. I'm guessing Verizon doesn't (exist?) offer this service in Canada. See if any of your Canadian cell phone carriers offer "EV-DO" service, and then find out if their equipment will work with the KR1. AFAIK, the KR1 is the only EV-DO-compatible wifi router. |

Re: Internet on the bus
Through satellite. It's the same way police have computers in their cars, or you get the radio signal into your car.
Maybe I'm wrong? Why does it have to go through your cellphone? |

Re: Internet on the bus
My bro lives in boston and when i visit him I take the LimoLiner. It has internet. And it has TV the whole time. I used to go see him like once a semester (he's at berkley college of music) now i go like once every 6 weeks because that bus is so pleasant it makes the trip so much better.
They fill up the bus like every trip and it costs like $70 for one way I think. I could go round trip for like $15 with the bags of chickens from china town but this bus is worth every penny. |

Re: Internet on the bus
I've got an LG Fusic from Sprint and get internet anywhere.
It's only about 400-800kbps, but that's plenty fast for most uses. |
