Default Re: Ameristar Casino St, Charles Trip Report

I played Harrah's yesterday. They have a $50 100 max player tourney at 1pm. The tourney only had 40. I played some 3-6 at noon. They had a few tables of that. Interest lists for 5-10 & 10-20 no tables though. They had a couple of tables for 1-2 & 2-5 NL. Not sure what they cap the buyin at. The room was nice. They had a food cart chick in several times between noon and 5. I didn't have anything but good to know its available.

Default I work at Ameristar St. Charles...

Hey Livinitup, I am a "dual rate" floor at Ameristar St. Charles.. I am sorry your experience was less than great, but I can explain some of the situations you came across on friday to make things less than optimal.

Now, I have no idea what Karen was saying to people, but she is usually not like that. I was dealing that day, and I know there was no brush person on that day due to our normal brushperson for friday mornings being on vacation. That makes the floor job kind of stressful on a semi-busy friday (not trying to make excuses).

The 20-40 Holdem is going thru a weird transition phase. We had the 20-40 for years... Harrahs built a new room and their poker room manager came into our main 20-40 game one day and offered everyone steak dinners, hundred dollars cash, diamond cards, ect over at Harrahs to leave our place and go over there. It was dirty pool enough to do that, however, the low blow was he came over and did it on a day that St. Charles had a Power outage, and we had no Air conditioning. So, long story short... The 20-40 game is split between us and them. We spread 20-40 three days a week (sun, wed, fri) from the morning till about 5 or 6 when the game breaks up. The game is going later and later however the last week or so...

The NL has really dried up the "Missouri middle" limit games (10-20 15-30) We used to spread 10-20 two days a week, also 15-30 with full kill two days a week. Once the NL cash games became dominant, people have really flocked to those games, leaving the limit player struggling to find those larger games. But I have been to Vegas, Tunica, East and found it the same to some extent everywhere.

Usually on a busy friday, cocktails is a tad slower, most of the time however there is a girl that is stationed just in the poker room, and it is usually really good, and easy on the eyes

We have higher limit omaha during the week if you play Omaha H/L (10-20 w/kill and 15-30 with 1/3 kill) and 5-10 omaha three days a week.

The 5/10 should have probably not been on the board. The 5-10 turned into the 4-8 with 1/2 kill, it has been a much popular game and been spread every day, where the 5-10 we have been having trouble spreading it every day. Most days we have two games.

We have been doing everything we can to revive the 10-20 limit games, and hopefully I will have more to report on that front. We have always been more of a limit room than Harrahs, and that is what we are working on to rebuild the limit player base. If you want to PM me, I can give you more details on when we spread specific games, so you know what to expect when you come up.

Are you the younger blonde guy that all the locals like? I think you may have dealt my table. And BTW whoever said Harrah's is better....Ive been keeping up with them for the past few days and there doesnt seem to be much of a differnece. The choice is probably going to come down to the drive and how well Im treated.

I'll be at Harrahs either this weekend or next so we'll see, Ill make another trip report when I get back and decide where Ill be spending most of my weekends this summer.

PS
Some of those girls at the sports bar are freakin hot!! Black short shorts rule.

ahh, the Ameristar, that brings back memories...

that 1/2NL game pretty much supported me through my senior year of college...

the $300 rule sucks, if you were a regular (I was a weekend regular) I would just never cash in my chips until I needed the dough...

anyway, the room sucks, it is a shithole in the middle of nowhere...

the harrahs room is much nicer but ameristar has that local appeal and overall terrible customer service that for some reason keeps on attracting locals

This just not true. I was at the table when brian was there. He never once told us to come to harrahs, it was more my idea than anything that day because it was so damn hot. The steak dinner thing was thought up by one of the players, and brian just agreed. We liked the way harrahs treated us, a lot better than ameristar. They would spread any game for us anytime. We have gotten 30/60 on tuesdays before. The diamond cards are very nice though, something ameristar would never do.
