I guess I completely misunderstand this custom. If I were to show you a frame by frame video of two players meandering towards the bathroom, I suppose you could place your finger on the slide where it becomes permissible for the two to converse about the previous hand?

I started playing poker in home games in college where I was more interested in understanding poker theory by way of playing and discussing hands with friends than I was in ekeing out a few bucks. That it should be impermissible to do the same at a casino because some other people might be trying to make money to feed the kids (but okay if you're 3.5 feet away from your chair!) seems ridiculous to me.

I'm repeating myself here, but my point is that I don't care! You're not entitled to not have playing conditions change at your table. Whatever impact I have on the table, as long as I don't behave unethically or illegally, you cannot object to my behavior simply on the grounds that it makes it harder for you to make money.

Of course you CAN do it. Do you think the rest of us in this thread are going to beat you up for it or have you banned from the casino? The question is, SHOULD you do it, and what criteria are we using to judge this 'should.' You've hit the highlights in this very post. It hurts our winrate to do what you are doing. So we don't want you to do it. It hurts YOUR winrate too, so you shouldn't want to do it, but if you still insist, go ahead. Don't expect us to encourage it, though.

My first time playing live omaha hi/lo ($4/$8) we lost a few players shortly after I arrived. I asked the player next to me, who seemed to be knowledgeable about changing my starting hands (narrowing vs. expanding) and he refused to assist because he "was trying to win my money" he later tried to angle me and the dealer (easily fooled) for a low hand that I had won, "mistakingly" declaring his low better. Long story short I run goot, take his monies. Lessons don't be a knit at low stakes.

vhawk, totally with you there. I usually don't engage in this behavior with a table full of strangers. This is more me being argumentative than me defending my actions. Chastising people for helping the fish strikes me as uber-nit, and I just can't stand nits.

This is completely fine... it's going to make the fish more comfortable at the table and more willing to reload after he busts on his 75 low in omaha h/l.
