The traffic isn't that bad in regards to the hours a poker player would normally be on the freeways. I know I wouldn't play poker from 8am-6pm, which is when the traffic is the worst. Also, if you know the traffic and pick where you want to live wisely, many times you'll be going in the opposite direction of the traffic.

The cost of living is high but I really think this is balanced by the higher limits and softer games than other places listed.

who says this? If you're a 20-30 yr old its the best place on earth imo

because of clubs/nightlife? prostitution? i'm quite unaware of the perks of vegas life besides the obvious. i'm a 20-30 yr old who doesn't like to go out much. i feel like i could assimilate in des moines as well as vegas, unless i'm missing something...

Yes because of the night life. It might not be for you in particular, but for many 20-30 year olds its the best place on earth. How many people go to Des Moines for their birthday/bachelor party/etc.?

Place to play: no question Vegas is it.

To live: For me it works great. I make double what i made before moving here doing the same job. This is place is not for everyone though. First and foremost this is a desert. If you want a house with a nice yard with lots of grass forget it. If you have a convertible and like to ride around with the top down forget it.

If you want to move here then go for it, but rent first to make sure its a good match for you .
