You don't drink Absinthe as a shot. You slowly pour cold water over a sugar cube, disolving the sugar, into the glass. So it's diluted and it blooms.
It's ok if you like the taste of licorice, but stay away if you don't. Drinking it straight as a shot is just nasty.
