Fold.

I think he'd play a set differently all streets unless he has JJ and is overplaying a rivered set of jacks despite the 3-spades.

He either has a higher stright, a flush, or a bluff. Given you're raise, c-bet, and turn bet, he'd be expecting you to have a good hand that might be tempted to call a river push. So, if he thinks you might strong enought to call call a river push, it makes it less likely that he has air.

So, fold is probably best unless he makes this kind of thing a habit on river scare cards. If he seems to be a habitual bluffer, then eventually you'll want to look him up in a spot like this, but not here.

when villan check calls the turn it makes me think he doesnt have the straight, the river seems like a flush, 2 pair, set or bluff, and i cant see him showing up with a flush here that often, so i call

It might be JJ, looks like about the only possible hand you beat (expect a bluff).

Hi all,

Thanks for all the replies. Seems like there's a lot of different oppinions on the percentages for his holding, but I think we can all agree on the fact that he's not ever bluffing (that would be a sick bluff however, hm?), so he's valuebetting something.

My reasoning is that this kind of guy is generally a bit "scared". He has learned to play tight and still, he only plays one table. I think I would be calling here most of the type against the lagish bad players, playing 35/15, and considering 2 pair total nut hands regardless of the board. This dude however seems to be different. More careful. More worried about what hand I "might" hold that could beat his.

Does anyone think the same about the "type" of player or is it impossible to generalize to any extent?

Absolutely, AB; I think we can generalize that about this villain.

He's value-betting nearly always here and nearly never it's a set. It's a fairly easy (though really annoying) fold.
