Yeah, I think there was an unintentional equivocation in Tim's response because of how vague the term "life" is. I thought my intended meaning was obvious, but I don't know what word or phrase I should be using.

There are some religionists who claim only "God" can create life from non-living matter. In fact, these creationists often allege that naturalistic theories of abiogenesis are contradicted by the fact that man has not (yet) synthesized life in the lab.

Perhaps you aren't one of those types of creationists.

Yes I suppose a successful result would simply prove something I was already morally certain of, that cellular life is completely mechanistic.
