Default need an example or two

please show me an example of a situation where you coldcalled a 3-5bb raise in position with an unpaired hand.

Assume reasonably deep stacks and include reads if they are needed to change this away from a fold or a reraise.

I'm just missing these spots due to my sh limit holdem brain, and I know that they exist. Bonus points for non-suited or non-connected hands and super duper extra bonus points for detailed thoughts.

thx!!

Seriously? Like all the time. UTG, MP, or maybe CO opens to 3.5 bb and I coldcall on the button with so many suited connectors at 100 bb, if deeper way worse stuff.

DD,

can you give a few examples of worse stuff? say like 250bb deep and a good player 4x opens, same thing but a bad player 4x opens.

250 bb deep with a fish its close to any two if the blinds are tight, certainly any two that can flop a straight. Vs the good player more connecting hands like 65o seem fine to me. Pretty much the only hands to avoid are like big-little-offsuit.

Just FYI I set the filter in PT to 'cold-called' and 'not a blind' I have about 2800 NL hands at NL10 6-max, and the filter spit out 35 hands.

Here's a couple.

Pokerstars $0.05/$0.10 No-Limit Hold'em - 6 players
Hand Converter Tool from DeucesCracked.com

BB: $6.05
UTG: $6.00
MP: $25.60
CO: $4.25
Button: $10.65
SB: $8.30

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG folds, <font color="#FF0000">MP raises to $0.40</font>, CO calls $0.40, Hero calls $0.40, SB folds, BB folds.

I didn't like the idea of 3-betting with AQs here... raiser was a pretty solid player but I didn't know about the caller and I didn't want to super-bloat the pot and just make a top-pair.

Flop: ($1.35) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#FF0000">MP bets $0.80</font>, CO folds, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $1.35

Results:
<font color="#FFFFFF">
MP doesn't show.
Outcome: MP wins $1.30.
($0.05 Rake)
</font>

Pokerstars $0.05/$0.10 No-Limit Hold'em - 6 players
Hand Converter Tool from DeucesCracked.com

SB: $13.05
BB: $8.80
UTG: $5.95
MP: $5.10
CO: $13.60
Button: $11.20

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG folds, <font color="#FF0000">MP raises to $0.30</font>, CO calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, SB folds, BB calls $0.20.

When CO called I figured I might have implied odds to make a stab with this hand.. maybe make a big one.

Flop: ($1.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
BB checks, <font color="#FF0000">MP bets $0.30</font>, CO calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, BB folds.

Turn: ($2.15) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#FF0000">MP bets $0.30</font>, <font color="#FF0000">CO raises to $0.60</font>, <font color="#FF0000">Hero raises to $2</font>, <font color="#FF0000">MP raises to $4.50 (all in)</font>, CO calls $3.90, <font color="#FF0000">Hero raises to $10.60 (all in)</font>, CO calls $6.10.

River: ($27.84) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>

Final Pot: $27.84

Results:
<font color="#FFFFFF">
MP mucks Qh, Qc.
CO shows 8h, 7h (a straight, Seven to Jack).
Hero shows Qs, Kd (a straight, Nine to King).
Outcome: Hero wins $14.90.
($12.94 Rake)
</font>

Think about implied odds.
