Default What is the status on what is allowed in location fields?

Coaching was recently removed from my old Location which said something along the lines of "Coaching/Blogging in BsAs".

Yet, MDMA's location is listed as simply "Coaching." and has been like that for quite some time as far as I can remember.

Is something like this allowed or not? If not, why is it not applied equally?

First, I doubt if any mod reads every Loc text, so there are probably dozens of comments that might be removed if they are spotted. Maybe we could use this as a grassers' thread?

Second, I suspect that different mods have slightly different takes on what is or is not allowed. There are just too many different possibilities to have a totally anchored-down rule.

In my own case, I work on the basic general principle that the Loc text should not "advertise", specifically, and it should not direct other readers to the person's Profile. Therefore, I have no problem with "Coaching"**, or "Blogging", but I would delete things like "blogspot.degen", "PM me for rates", and "T$ for sale".

Edit/MH: ** One of my friendly and helpful colleagues has told me I am wrong in allowing "Coaching". This is not acceptable. My apologies.

lol.

So... is it okay to put coaching back into my location or not? I don't want to do it then somehow get magically ban-hammered again for something that wasn't clear.

Edit: I've changed my location to something I might use as an example. Is this okay?

Sorry, Met. I have had to ban you.

Please read my edit above. Feel free to comment when you get back in three days.

Ok, so coaching isn't allowed. That's fine just want to that be made clear then. It'd be helpful if mods would PM you and let you know when they edit your profile like that though. It took me a while to even realize it had been changed and I thought for a second I was crazy until realizing someone must have done it.

If I'm not allowed to do it though, I'm definitely not going to let others when I see it. Should I be PM'ing Mat or Ryan or someone like you, Mike? Or post them in a thread here?

FWIW, I don't think MDMA is defying rules on purpose, but probably like me he wasn't entirely clear on what the rule was. Again, why a PM when things are edited would be nice.

since we have sponsored coaching forums, saying "coaching" is no longer acceptable.

if 2+2 hosted member's blogs, then blogging would also not be acceptable. since 2+2 does not offer that service, we are allowing blogging.

Thanks durron, that makes more sense than any other reason given. Are things like LeggoPoker and Cardrunners in avatars/locations still okay then?

I see how these rules can get confusing fast.

OFFICIAL MOD FORUM PERSPECTIVE

this is actually a current hot topic of debate, and no final decision has been made yet
