If you aren't interested in games like Mass Effect because you have to get 'real deep into them' then I don't really understand why you even care what the next 'big' game will be? Even GTAIV is probably not going to be a have fun picking up and playing it every once in a while for 5 minutes type game.

I'd check out the arcade games. There's a ton of great games and they are made exactly for people that don't really want to get 'real deep' into games.

It's not the getting deep into a game part that bothers me about Mass Effect, it's the sci-fi/alien stuff, just not a fan of it.

I hear ya on the sc-fi stuff. I'm not a huge fan of it, but I like it when it's combined with a horror aspect ala Gears of War.

But don't hold your breath, Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2 is coming out December 4..

what would you guys recommend for right now? i played the hell out of halo 3, played through campaign and several online games. got a little bored, but i'll stick with it.

i moved on to call of duty 4 last week and absolutely love it! the campaign was amazing, really cool story. i'm lovin the online play. i like that you can run into 3 guys and take them out.

i'm thinking of renting/buying within an hour. i'm hella bored, have the next 2 days off and want something new to play.

mass effect? assassin's creed? i used to like playing the need for speed games and see a new one has been released. please, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I say Assassin's Creed for rental, to help you decide whether you want to buy it or not. Also, I just realized you live pretty close to me, holla.

If you have played DDR on other platforms and are a fan I would avoid DDR Universe for the 360, the game play is pretty bad.

HOLLA! Assassin's Creed was all out for rental so I passed on that. I want to try it, and from reviews I've read, you either love it or hate it, and not a lot of replay value.

[/ QUOTE ]I tried Dead Rising a while back and hated it. The lack of save points or checkpoints killed it for me. I played for maybe an hour and I died and BAM back to the very beginning wtf? I found the control ackward too =(

I ended up renting Need for Speed Pro Street. I will let you know how it goes.

first impressions of Need for Speed Pro Street:

UGH The announcer makes me want to return the game today. "blah blah blah RYAAN COOOOPER!" I get sick of hearing the characters name in basically every sentence the announcer uses.

I miss the free roaming style, but i'm going to keep plugging away.

the drag racing doesn't feel as good as Need for Speed Underground. You get to warm up your tires before the race to get a traction bonus. then you get to press RT for 12 seconds while shifting up with the right stick. it's not exciting.

Yeah, Orange Box is good. Mass Effect was surprisingly good. I was afraid it would take 30+ hours but I got through it in 9 hours and enjoyed it thoroughly over the course of about a week. I also don't really get into the sci-fi alien stuff and I hate Star Wars with unending passion, but the plot of Mass Effect was actually very, very good. It reminded me a little bit of Deus Ex for some reason. FWIW, Mass Effect is much better of a game than Halo, plotwise and graphicswise.

Some games to lookup to see if you should get a little early stoke on:

Alan Wake 12.31

2 Days to Vegas 1.1

Resident Evil 5- 1.1

Condemned 2- 2.5ish

Mercenaries 2- 2.5ish

Devil May Cry first quarter too I think.

Biggest and most obvious is GTA4 which drops 3.1ish

And of course, Cabellas Big Bass and Howard Lederers world poker!

The new Turok should be sick but don't know when it drops.
