Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
FW is almost always insanely huge bets preflop and embarassingly small bets (think less than 1/4 often) postflop.

[ QUOTE ]
So - is this just a FW thing at this particular game, or is it common in most NL cash games to see flop bets of over 6X the pot and 12XBB PF bets?? [/ QUOTE ] some of the worst, most superstitious, ill-informed, impatient poker players are playing casino SSNL. Understand your opponent's psychology: I've seen the 12xBB preflop raises with AA and the guy is *happy* to "win a small pot rather than lose a big one". (It ruins someone's day to get aces cracked even though they swear aces never win) The oversized preflop raise is common and usually a standard $15 raise gets a couple callers (it's the price to see the flop, people accept that). The ridiculous postflop bet is not as often seen, but it's usually of the "tired of getting sucked out; protecting my top pair/overpair" variety as seen here. The astute Small blind special recognized that and made an otherwise ridiculous re-raise all-in. |

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
Actually the funny part about this table I was at - and this is very common at a lot of the 1-2NL tables at Foxwoods (presumably because of the restricted buy-in??) is that most 16 dollar PFR's would be followed by a C-bet of around 15 dollars, regardless of the number of callers.
Continuation bets that were 20% of the pot were actually taking down a lot of pots. Knowing that this works versus a lot of your opponents can make it a very profitable strategy at these games, whereas you'd obviously be eaten alive trying it against a table of observant, tricky opponents. I love playing the LAG game against these type of players at FW, but when there are already a couple of players blatantly using this style I usually will sit back and let them do a lot of the betting, exploiting positional advantages whereever I can. How do you guys adjust?? And I'm gonna try and get down there again this weekend, give a heads up if you'll be playing. -Brendan |

Re: FW 1-2 NL, continued. . .
This thread has just revived my desire to make the 3+ hour drive. Since this weekend is the start of bow season, and I dont' bow hunt, I will have nothing else to do as all my friends will be going to bed early and getting up at 4am. I might try to get down there friday night/saturday morning.

Sky City, Auckland
1/2 nl Entire table limps as one. SB completes. FLop 279 rainbow. SB goes All-in for $60, MP calls. SB shows 2 7s, MP folds Q9o, berating the "fish" for playing trash when he had a "good kicker". Someone points out they were soooted, and MP hesitates, then taps the table saying "fair enough" Only the dealer seemed to find this funny |

I'm still confused as to the adjective that this adverb is modifying? I mean I see a subsequent noun . . . [/ QUOTE ] There's a 50/50 shot I'm missing some sarcasm here, but "donkey" is the adjective. It was a donkey game--full of donkeys, in much the same way as a cow pasture is full of cows. Also, your first sentence is a statement, not a question, and should therefore be punctuated with a period rather than a question mark. And I am officially a nit. |
