My favorite is when they put their sunglasses on after they make their move.

Like you bet, dude thinks and thinks, shoves his stack in, sits still for ten seconds, gets nervous when you look at him, and then puts his sunglasses on.

To be accurate, this only happened to me a few times in ring games.

After a river catch they say: "Sorry for the bad beat on the river, I had you on QJ and thought my top pair rag kicker was good."

I don't mind if people think I suck ... nothing like making a play no one sees coming because of something that was said.

this procedure tends to be a telltale sign:

they get their cards.
they cap their cards with their fancy card protector that's usually lame.
they intensely study the table.
it's their turn to act.
they intensely look around again.
they remove the stupid card protector.
they look at the hole cards studiously.
they put the lameass card protector back on.
they look around again.
they take the retarded card protector back off.
they muck.
REPEAT FOR 95% OF THE HANDS DEALT.

About half of these are legit, and legitimately annoying as well, but a lot of them are fine, especially as a way of making conversation or maintaining a relaxed vibe with a certain kind of table. For instance, I often respond to bad beat stories with a much shorter similar story and/or some kind of lighthearted "this game sure is sick" comment instead of sneering and acting annoyed in my superior internet player ipod-wearing world. There's also a lot of stuff you can do with nonverbal communication to empathize with weaker players who think they're the first ones to ever lose a race on the river or get aces cracked.

Generally, people who talk about their skill or say things like "EV" at the table are much more irritating to me than people who are sick of the crazy kids w/ their allins. It's pretty easy to appease and relate to the second group.

My play pretty quickly lets people know that I suck. However, I look at my cards as fast as they are dealt so any subsequent action is not done with the entire table watching me look at my cards first.

Surprised no one has mentioned this. It's usually the fastest way to ID a donk:

"I didn't want to get sucked out on"

After overbetting the pot on the flop / turn against an obvious draw.

They are oblivious to the concept of wanting a call with the best hand and card(s) to come
