Default AK how much?

So last post I did, I was questioning the sizing of my value bet on the river. (QJs hand ). Many people liked betting $60, which is a bet I would rarely use as a bluff. Perhaps that is a leak, not bluffing for 1/2 pot on the river, its just that I would typically not do so.

Very often will we play against players that don't read bet sizing and we can typically play our hands face up. But what happens when you play against someone who can? ie. decent regs/etc? I think that after reading MSNL and the like, ranging your value bets to look much like your bluffs should be a profitable river strategy against better players, eh? (very very simple concept I know).

so, how much do you like on this river?

Villan is pretty good, he runs maybe 22/18 and is TAG. He's a reg and is capable of bluff raising/value betting somewhat thinly/etc. He and I have gotten in a few RR-ed pots where the PFRR usually wins on the flop. He likely views me as a TAG.

If he vbets pretty thin, why not check to him? I'm guessing he bets lighter than he calls especially since we're repping an ace pretty well. I'd call any bet up lto like 60-70

edit: damn thac, you're too fast for me

check/calls

He's never ever calling any bet unless you're crushed or he floated with some sort of weak ace imo.

For example, what do you do in his spot on the river when checked to with 55 or 66 here (assuming you got to the river some how)?

Are you checking or are you turning your hand into a bluff?

Maybe it's just really late and i'm really tired from partying on Halloween, but as of right now I like c/c best.

The other issue is, when you are behind and get raised, you want to feel fine about folding. Which I think you may have expressed problems with in the past. But you don't want to bet so little that he's tempted to bluffraise light.

So lots of factors go into bet sizing here.

I would bet exactly $68.

Eh, I'd need a read that he's a blufftard. Even a TAG will often convince himself to call with something retarded here that he would never bet.

Carrot, what do you think his river calling range is? Are you specifically trying to extract value from Tx and whatever he floated with (Ax etc)?

Orange: think you misunderstood what i was trying to say... im really tired.
