grunching...

Big Pocket pairs are out, cos no re-raise on preflop.
I can only see him holding KQ diamond? Villian pushes hard on the flop, with overcards and flush draw, villian bets on turn cos he had capped the flop. And finally, he raised on the river cos he hit his 2nd nut flush.

Lead turn, check/call river.

Checking this turn is really bad. I almost think check raising is worse.

Why would a lead turn be good? Villian had capped the flop, if you had led the turn, you would be losing more bets if he has a hand that beats yours.

Or is the reason that he could be capping a flush draw too, and you don't wanna give him free cards to the river? But he has more than enuff pot odds to see the river.

I 3-bet this river for value.

monster spew. you call a cap too? even worse if so.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope, pretty obvious why given my reads. FWIW let me recall DeathDonkey in his well thread.

Q. What are one of the most profitable plays in LHE today?

A. Raising a card that completes draws, you only need to have a successful bluff work a small percentage of the time.

Yes this is a spew against a passive player, but villain is not that.

if you think he has either the flush or a bluff, 3betting is terrible.

babar,

i believe this hand violates the babar rule: don't b/f the river against TAGs.

i think sharpie and benny (et al) are correct and that you should lead the turn and then call down.

as played, that's an ugly spot and i can't imagine anything you're beating.
