Just saw it today. Was way too slow paced. The story was not very interesting and way too predictable; fake Russian accents are annoying:/

The problem with special effects like that is so few people know what a deep cut or a frozen finger snip looks like that it doesn't matter how "real" it looks, it's still going to look fake.

Maybe. But that doesn't mean this wasn't one of the worst ways they could have done it. I don't think it would have looked less fake if they chopped off the finger of a blow up doll.

Ok stabn, we understand you don't think it should win any awards for special effects. Most people who see it won't care.

I thought it was really good. I have no idea what a sliced open throat looks like and how the movie showed it looked entirely possible to me. I also dont know any Russians, therefore am unable to distinguish a real accent from a fake one, so no problems there for me either.

Viggo is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

How did it compare to "A History of Violence" Cronenburg and Mortenson's previous project?

I thought it was about as good as AHOV. I found the special effects believable, but then again I don't know what cutting a frozen finger really looks like.

Did anyone else think that Viggo in full shades-and-suit getup looked an awful lot like Ed Harris' character from AHOV? Same smirk, same weathered face.

OK, the resemblance isn't as strong as I thought, but I think they're wearing the same shades:

Same sucked in expression:

Similar smirk:

Meh, whatever.

Man, can't believe I missed this. I loved the unashamed immorality of AHOV. That and Viggo f*cking dudes up.
