USB 2.0 slow

I have an IBM Lenovo T42p laptop with USB 2.0 ports. USB is slow (1.1 speed).
Official page does not have any USB drivers for download.

I tried installing the Intel chipset drivers. I tried uninstalling the USB drivers and seeing if XP would recognize them correctly. Tried updating the BIOS. Everything did not work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Has it always been this way? How do you know it's slow? Is it just recognizing one device as 1.0, or multiple devices?
