I'm just curious if there is ANY TV news that is more than a bucket of turds. Sounds like that answer is a big fat no.

You should try watching the 6:30 ET network newscasts. They will have inane stories too, but when they decide to do a serious story about health, foreign policy or something like that they generally do a good job.

Did your review of TV news include CNN? I was under the impression that they don't put as much inanity on as Fox News.

Slightly OT because its a newspaper, but my recent SMP thread addressed something similar.

I've been reviewing how TV news reviews scientific topics lately. It's rather disturbing to see the quality of guest experts I see on Fox News. It's almost like they seek out the biggest moron activist they can find and face them off with another moron. What you get it two people that don't have a clue about what they are talking about yelling at each other.

You haven't noticed that this seems to be the format for almost all of Fox's shows?

I really haven't watched TV in a while. I just remember that during the Iraq invasion they seemed to do a pretty good job of interviewing important people. I'm just curious if there is ANY TV news that is more than a bucket of turds. Sounds like that answer is a big fat no.

CNN's Glenn Beck basically has his own little war on science. Other than that I haven't seen too much CNN. Will do some searches on youtube.

I'm becoming a big fan of sites like crooks & liars, newshounds, media matters, etc. Even if their analysis is off it's nice to be able to search for the videos and audio clips.

http://video.google.com for broad searches, basically worthless unless you use 'advanced search' and set it at > 20 minutes.
