Default FPS or okay? Flop semi-bluff check raise...

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, Hero calls, BB calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (8 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>

PFR is a TAG, Callers are Slightly Loose Agg but both have a WTSD of 31.

Very nice imo. Hopefully the turn is a 9 and the river a Q and you beat AKo.

Seems like a good application of the SSH principle of driving out opponents in a multiway raised preflop pot even when you're behind under the theory you gain more equity by folding people out than by calling and nullifying you're weaker pair outs.

TAGish villian likely has overcards, maybe a pair, so it seems like a good move. You're behind, but given everyone folded a turn lead has some fold equity. If he really does have overcards, you've got 10 outs to take the lead on the turn and perhaps quite a few more on the river depending on what the turn reveals.

I like it. I should have the balls to do that. I usually go "meh, the gutshot warrants a call" and stop thinking there.

With 2, and probably 3, other players in the pot, I think it's fine. I call any 2 suited in this situation if I was in the BB, so calling a 1-gapper for 1.33 SB seems reasonable.

You're also in a good spot relative to the PFR, which makes the preflop call easier.

Nice.. it looks like a pair since you are driving out the field, so I think a tag will usually fold A-high/overcards on the turn.

I'm not exactly sure why, but something about this line bothers me.

Perhaps it is the number of people involved. Perhaps it is because I think the TAG might 3-bet, believing you could be on a flush draw (of clubs). Maybe it's because I expect this hand to go to sd.

Or maybe it's just because you're pushing one of those little edges, which I can't handle yet.

It's one of those deals where the pot is big and since you have to continue anyhow it's worthwhile to throw in an extra bet or two in an attempt to take the whole thing. Or even if he's not folding A-high at least you can clean up some 7's or 9's. You don't have to take many extra pots to make up for all the potential negatives you list. They're all real but here in this big pot with many potential outs you must be searching for reasons TO attack the pot, not reasons to be passive.

That doesn't look like a flush draw to me. Why would a flush draw force out customers? I would lead to trap the field for 2, one at a time.

I think lots of people play flush draws this way, even if it is a mistake.
