Playing medium pocket pairs
Standard situation question, you are in MP with 77, you limp in with a few others, lets say there are 5 or 6 small bets in the pot. The flop comes with 2 non suited face overcards and a small card:
1. its checked to you 2. sb checks, bb bets, utg calls 3. it's checked around and the CO bets Thanks in advance guys |

Re: Playing medium pocket pairs
Raising preflop makes this so much easier.
1. I check 2. I fold 3. I fold |

Re: Playing medium pocket pairs
Raise. Always Raise. You isolate if you can get some of the limpers to fold. You also build a pot. Then on the flop you can take it from there. If you've gotten down to yourself and one other person (or even two) you can often take it down with a c-bet.
Otherwise, when you hit your set, there's a pot built up and anyone who plays with you will quickly find all their chips in the pot to stay in the hand. (Which is exactly what you want, right?) |
