AK early on
Hey I am just wondering how you guys play AK preflop during the first few levels. I tend to re raise almost all the time with AK no matter what stage just wondering how you guys play AK early on when raised before your action. Obviously position of the raiser matters but just in general.

Re: AK early on
I like flatcalling AK in the first levels.

Re: AK early on
I'm pretty sure here that 99% of posters here would NOT flat call with AK at all.

Re: AK early on
<--- 1% 'depends' some sure, but i'm not generally RE-raising AK too often. later position behind a min - to maintain position, blahblahblah, eliminate some hands facing the same in very EP, etc....certainly some conditions warrant the reraise more often. but i'm not going to flip with this idiots 55 when he 3betshoves. i'd rather stack him post with his weaker TP/underpair when we hit. |

But there is a remark from one of the sngicons that keeps echoing in my head "It's allmost never a bad idea to get all your money in preflop with AK" [/ QUOTE ] I understand it this way: When the pot is big when it comes to you, you want to go allin. Because you want to see any street. When flatcalling a big raise you have a lose-lose situation on the flop. With A or K on the flop no one is willing to give you additional money, without A, K your'e in big trouble defending the pot. With flatcalling a small raise compared to your stack you hide your strength. So you can use this on a good flop without risking a race against 55. |

Re: AK early on
Personally, I like to re-raise. I then call shovers and deal with my race. But I also pick up some pots immediately and will bet out the flop (almost) 100% of the time and will take down most pots on the flop. A PF re-raise may get called by someone wanting to see a flop, but they'll have to hit the flop pretty hard to want to keep playing against someone who's been representing big strength from the beginning.
