Well, for some reason my images (which were created on my Mac) were being corrupted on the Pc, so after working on it for a few hours I was able to fix it. :Phew:

Those are nice. A little cluttered around the title, especially in blue.

Yay it worked!! Thanks for the input. I think the title area looks a bit cluttered too, I will try to play with the font or move the image down a bit. ^_^

Those look good. I actually like them a little extra because you not only put the heads of the Q K and J, but you also put their dismembered, headless bodies on the back cover.

The only thing that seems off is the gap between the first two authors seems more narrow then the second gap, but I can't tell if the background is just making it look that way.

I'm having title clutter issues too. It's a long title.

I love this design. It has a simple efficiancy, and isn't cluttered up to the point where it's just a billboard for itself. This looks more like a textbook, less like the ramblings of some random poker guy.

I also like Roxysurfergirl00's designs for the same reasons, but the cover art is a little too abstract for me. It looks like it would belong more on a book about fine art than the predatory activity that is poker.

Not that I know crap about this kind of thing...

Gonso, I have taken several courses in graphic design and was about to give this contest a serious go. I don't think I'll bother now. These may be some of the most striking book covers I've ever seen. Very good job.

I may still throw some ideas around, but I can't imagine topping this.

If you don't mind a few criticisms, I'd suggest thinly bordering your cover font in a deeper shade of the main cover color. This may ease the shock of the transition from the cover color to stark white. Also I agree that the title must come down, and you'll likely have to reduce the king's total size to accomplish this. The "Vol 1" font is an excellent touch.

Again, excellent work!

I agree with you runout_mick, Gonso did a nice job but he needs some competition. If you are a good graphic designer give us something to rival Gonso's. I hope that before the deadline there is some other competition.

Aha! Taking a few courses in something doesn't automatically make one "good".

I'm kicking a few sketches around now.

Gonso,

great designs, but i'll nitpcik a little: the character between hold and em seems to be a LEFT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK (U+2018). Shouldn't that be an APSOTROPHE (U+0027), or even preferably a RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK (U+2019)?

just nitpicking, as i said.
