Re: Why players aren\'t given a pager when on the waiting list
$10 blackjack... that's just awful. We have $25 where I work, and I thought that was bad.

Re: Why players aren\'t given a pager when on the waiting list
I usually get a pager at the MGM and never had a problem getting one. They are in plain sight behind the check-in desk so I assume most people that play there know they exist.

[ QUOTE ]
The only place I can recall getting a pager for whilst on the wait list was last summer at Potawatomi in Milwaukee. [/ QUOTE ] The Horseshoe in CB Iowa, gives out Pagers to those on the poker wait list, and one of the Casinos around Cincinnati Ohio (In Indiana, I forget the name, but it's in Lawrenceville, IN), does the same thing. |

In which casino do you get the pager? [/ QUOTE ] Scheveningen. Don't really know about the others. Perhaps it's something recent though. |

Re: Why players aren\'t given a pager when on the waiting list
Of course that's utter nonsense since in order to get the pager, they would have to ASK to be called when there was a seat. It'd be like saying that chairs at the blackjack table aren't allowed because that's inticing someone to gamble. Or how about pagers aren't allowed in restaurants because we might get sued for inticing overweight people to eat.
But this the age of corporations. and "p'litically c'rect" bullpucky. Just give us americans time and our corporate ceo idiots will expand on this stupidity tenfold. We are "world leaders" after all [cue sound of vomiting in the background]. Al |

Re: Why players aren\'t given a pager when on the waiting list
I play mostly at Borgata and am glad they don't use pagers. When your seat is ready there (especially on a weekend) if you don't lock it up pretty quick you will lose it so staying inside the poker room is pretty much a requirement. Just outside the poker room there are a bunch of those three card poker and Casino Hold Em tables and if I got a pager I would absolutely be dumping money while I was waiting.

Also it is awesome to try and decipher your name being called out when the teacher from peanuts is announcing the list.

Re: Why players aren\'t given a pager when on the waiting list
I never understood why a nice-ish and I would think obviously profitable casino can't invest a little bit in half-way decent speakers and maybe a couple of fresh batteries for their microphone.
It sounds ridiculous and bush-league at a lot of places when they are making some announcement about a new game or about the tournament or whatever and virtually nobody can understand what is being said. |

[/ QUOTE ] The only thing is if the wait is long and I want to grab a slice then I risk losing my seat if the table changes up quickly or they add another table at that limit. It would be nice to have a pager but they could put a time limit on it so you must get your seat within 5 or 10 minutes. |
