Default Monitor for gaming??

Any of you guys use monitors for either PS3 or 360?? Right now i have a dell 2007FP 20" but its not HDCP. A friend of mine is interested in purchasing it and I was thinking about upgrading to a 24"HDCP. Right now im considering the dell E248WFP, E407WFP-HC, samsung 245BW, or gateway FHD2400. The dell E407WFP is the only one that is not a TN panel but is considerably more expensive but possibly has "ghosting" problems?? And since the others are TN they have poor viewing angles and overall not as good as picture quality. But is there really a huge difference considering the difference in price(the dell E248 ~$400 and the E407 ~$670)?? And since ive used the dell 2007FP 20" (S-PVA panel) would a switch to a TN really be dissapointing?? FWIW i also will be using it for poker/browsing internet nothing too extreme...

From everything I read, TN panels are really horrible at viewing angles.

I have no experience w/ them as the worst I've used is my Gateway XHD3000 (S-PVA) and it pretty much kicks ass w/ my 360. But obviously, that's not what you're going for...

If I were you, I'd check out anandtech.com and hardforum.com and see what the fellas there can weigh in on...they are very good with helping out in situations like this.

GL!

thanks...the Gateway XHD3000 would be balla but dont have the monnies for it right now. I ended up gettin a sick thanksgivin deal on a 24" westinghouse (non TN) from bestbuy. At first i was skeptical b/c its not a very popular brand but I did a good bit of research on most of the 24"s and for the price it seems like the westinghouse is def a steal.

TN panels do have crappy viewing angles. They have been popular with gamers because they have fast response times. The PVA (and related) panel types have better contrast and viewing angles, and the newer ones have response times that are almost as good as the TN panels. At this point, the response times are so good that I don't think anyone other than the most super-picky people are going to notice the difference.

Nice!

FWIW, I got my gf a 37" Westy for her monitor (also doubles as a 1080p TV) which she loves. I'm a big fan of the Westy's so that should be a good monitor for you.

Congrats and let us know how you like it!
