Default Stepping down from bbv4l

OK, so I am stepping down from bbv4l in the near future. This is a culmination of a lot of things, which include

-less and less time to mod bbv4l on a regular basis
-less and less fun modding bbv4l over the last 6 months or so (for people who want evidence of that just search the mod forum for any posts I've made, particularly involving bringing citanul and adanthar on)
-because I have less and less time these days, my finger is not on the pulse of bbv4l anymore. I don't really get the "funny stuff" anymore and I don't even know who a good poster is anymore because the people who post good "content" are the same ones pushing all the boundaries to be cool.
-just on a simple cost-benefit analysis the costs of modding the forum way outweigh the benefits

I'm just trying to keep this issue separate from the other threads about bbv4l on here, so let's focus on me not modding bbv4l anymore and nominating mods to replace me in this thread. I've already talked it over with Mat so at this point it is just finding the right team to make it work.

Gild, recruit 3-4 more mods on the condition that they act on porn and racism swiftly and harshly.

Some of the forums on this site may be mod-heavy (umm, not that any come immediately to mind) but that one seems to be light when you consider the content and the volume. There are some posters like nath, GA, T-Dog or others that would happily pitch in. Dunno, I'm new here but from what I know that seems to make sense.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think mods need to be picked very carefully from that group. Anyone who is all about "Free LionelHutz" is likely not a good choice for example, as how you can you possibly expect someone to enforce rules when they're arguing that the rules shouldn't be enforced. This will never happen, but someone like NT! would be a perfect addition to that forum if he was told the only actions he could take would be on things like inline porn and racism.

[/ QUOTE ]

imo there is noone in bbv4l who is capable to take over as a mod. Adanthar was the last qualified person. GA is an anarchist. T-God is the same way. The rest of the regular posters either have little respect for the rules or borderline personality disorders.

Also, I don't think we can have mods from OOT replace me without there being a full-scale revolt.

That being said, I would like to step down pretty soon so let's figure this out.

My initial suggestions are adanthar and citanul as lead mods, and two support team mods taken from other forums to just enforce basic rules in the sticky and take the time to comb through threads for violations.

I would suggest some people from the lounge, as you guys have like 9 mods there and you all seem pretty level-headed. I would strongly suggest not having anyone from OOT replace me, again, because people are going to go totally apeshit. NT is like the anti-christ in bbv4l for whatever wierd reason and the rest of OOT mods aren't far behind.

I'd like to get this settled in the next few days. Once we settle it, I would like to be removed from bbv4l immediately and have the mods replace me immediately to make it as fast a change as possible. I can help from behind the scenes but it should be made very clear that I am no longer interested in modding bbv4l and will not be directly involved in any way.

Gild,

Maybe you should trade spots w/ daryn or Yeti and be an EDF mod instead?

Hey El D,

That is like the garbageman becoming the provost

That's an interesting idea. Keep in mind I will still be modding bbv (I mod both currently, whee) so I will still be kicking around:P

And I actually enjoy and have always enjoyed modding bbv. I'm a sucker for graphs of $$$.

Gildwulf,

Wow that sucks, but you appear to know what's best for you and your forum. Good points, it shows I don't know much about the tone of the forum, and the fact that T-Dog took me to task about you getting stressed out probably implies that he has no clue about what the job entails.

Since I am being added at a rate of one forum/week and the two I pitch in on (Lounge, Golf) are pretty trouble-free, I'd consider giving it a go, but it would involve knowledge transfer and me lurking for a bit. God knows I'm on here enough to where I could pick up on things.

That said, kyleb does seem like a really good fit, not just because he seems like NT! Junior without the OOT baggage, but also because he seems to really, really like banning people, so that forum is like perfect for him.

Gild,

FWIW, I think modding that forum is pretty much the most painful volunteer job on 2+2 and from everything I've seen, you've done a pretty damn good job.

I think it would be cool to have katy added as a BBV4L mod.

What do you think of kyleb and tug as BBV4L mods?

This is either brilliant or cruel.

I don't think an NT!ish regime is really all that necessary. I think you need a shiton of cops on the street to delete crap and keep the masses at bay. Gildy, how about something like 8 mods who just delete and lock crap along with 2-3 lead mods who handle ban decisions of longer than a day or so for problem posters?

that makes a lot of sense IMO, except that the forum monkeys would fling lots and lots of poo at every mod without differentiating between any of them

edit: also, my arbitrary ban system in 4l involves a weeklong ban for everything and anything that involves me actually having to mod something. it's worked remarkably well so far.
