Default Avatars

Not sure what the policy is on avatars, but user catalyst has profanity in his at the end of its little sequence.

In addition, this one could be seen as in appropriate as well...user Degen

Remove and warn?

fwiw, I shot a quick PM to Degen asking him to change his avatar and remove "see profile" from his location... I expect he will make the changes shortly.

Ok - I gave him a 24 ban for his. Penis and profanity were kinna over the top.

If he wants to complain, we can undo it. Not a large deal to me either way.

fwiw, it doesn't look like the suspension took (or ryan reversed it?)

In any event, he has made the requested changes.

AJFenix unbanned Degen. I believe Berge removed the avatar when he banned him.

Yeah, he messaged me on AIM, and I believe Berge stated it wasn't a big deal so I went ahead and unbanned him. Hes not really the type to cause trouble.

I wasn't. Hope I wasn't wrong, I've never had a problem with him in my forum and he contributes all over the map from what I've seen (his latest Thailand thread in OOT was probably my favorite ever from that forum, go check it out if you haven't, and hes the most recent MSNL HU champ!). The problem avatar was changed, Berge said it wasn't a big deal, he was already on AIM with me asking who banned him so he could contact them, so I went ahead and told him / unbanned him. I don't know him all that well, but hes definitely very helpful if you have any interest in going to Thailand, which after reading that thread a ton of people seemed to have.

I am aware of both his positive and negative contributions to 2+2.

fine, of course

/ unbanned him.

This is one big problem, unbanning people for very obviously bad offenses (like pornographic avatars) is a huge nono, especially without contacting the banning moderator first. He asked me on AIM to unban him as well, and I did not.

Probably not a good person to be unbanning then without consulting anyone...

this is irrelevant. How many times have we banned KaneKungFu123 for trolling despite his positive strategy posts in HSNL? I regarded Degen until recently as a decent acquaintence but being a moderator has costs associated with it - it's not a license to give friends special privileges. Unfortunately Degen is no longer speaking to me because he found out I mentioned his troll/flamewars from the AR forum on the private mod forum despite the fact that I have nothing personal against him. Oh well.

The dude had an anti-Frist avatar, along the lines of the flag burning and nazi-Frist avatars. Yeah, it had a penis, and it was over the line. It got removed. Berge had already stated that if he were to complain, unbanning him would not be a big deal either way, and he was complaining, so it was done. I would not have unbanned him had Berge not already said that it "wasn't a big deal, can do it if he complains"
