Can I use neteller electronic funds transfer to get free checking instead of direct deposit? That is, will sending money from neteller to checking account fulfill the direct deposit requirement?

Only your bank could answer that question for sure. However, I doubt it would qualify.

Anyway, plenty of banks offer free checking without direct deposit. I use Washington Mutual. No interest on my checking account, but no fees either.

I've gotten free checking with Neteller EFTs on my account and no other kind of direct deposit over the last six months. I'm with Chase for what it's worth.
