[ QUOTE ]
According to Bruce Miles, Hendry has said that he is not handcuffed, and that the Cubs will be buyers this month. With what is available, I think the best option is just going with Soto and Cedeno and dumping Jones and Izturis. Let Fontenot get the majority of the starts at 2nd and DeRo can play RF against LH and spot start elsewhere.

Soriano
Fontenot
Lee
Ramirez
Floyd/DeRosa
Cedeno
Soto
Pie

I wouldn't mind if we acquired a true #2 starter, though. Erik Bedard or James Shields would probably be available.

[/ QUOTE ]

I just realized that making a trade for Bedard through waivers would really help us. I don't know why Hendry hasn't tried to do this yet.

They showed that damn commercial for some financial planning company right before Soriano got hurt.

It went something like:

"Team on a hot streak"

"Star player gets injured, sidelined for weeks"

"Team enters slump"

"Fans abandon team"

etc. etc.

SORIANO PLEASE COME BACK.

We need someone to step up and give us 7+ solid innings of letting in no more than 2 runs to get this team back on track.

Why the [censored] would the Orioles trade a stud pitcher who isn't FA eligible (and only making $3 mil)? And why would the Devil Rays trade an emerging pitcher who will make near the league minimum for two more years? Even if they were available, who are the Cubs going to give up for them?

How is it possible to lose so many close games? Oh right. THANK YOU, WUERTZ AND HOWRY.

Can we please trade one of our 18 major league ready position prospects for young pitching in the offseason?
