Default 3/6 B&M: TT with overcard flop

Loose-passive table except for Button, SB & BB who are loose-aggressive. UTG+2 is loose and I believe he won't raise without a big hand.

HERO in CO w/T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

UTG calls, fold, UTG+2 calls, fold, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero raises, Button folds, SB folds, BB & the rest call.

FLOP: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players / 12 SB)

Checked to Hero, Hero checks

TURN: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

UTG checks, UTG+2 bets, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, Hero folds

Thoughts?

Normally I'd agree...but something about 5 opponents and me holding 2nd pair and no one will fold...ugh.

It's hard to believe that none of 5 opponents have a K. Still with 5 checks in front, I'm going to bet this flop just to see who goes away. We may win it right here. If they're scared to bet K3, they may just fold it here.

Yeah I've been noticing that CBs are very overrated in a very loose game w/ a lot of players on the flop. Still in this hand I think there's a semi-decent chance you still have the best hand and if not a bet on the flop will give you some semblance of where your at.

There are several reasons to bet this flop, although I understand your concern. The most important reason, IMO, is it makes the rest of the hand play easier pretty cheaply. Checking seems smart and all, but how do we respond on the turn when one of the players donks into us on a blank card? Betting takes care of that. Furthermore, if we do get called by a number of players, we'll get a free river, and while we only have a couple good outs, every bit counts.

On this hand it worked out okay...the rocky UTG+2 bet out and was called before it got to me. I figured to lead he had to have a king and the caller very possibly has a K, though we can't discount 2nd pair -- even with people to act.

At the time, my impulse was to bet if it was checked back to me a second time, because then I would have to believe I'm good. Of course, that seems like a terrible strategy because I'm left to pray for an undercard on the turn too.

I felt dirty about not betting on the flop. Normally in LP I'll bet a pocket pair above middle pair if it's be checked to me. But I didn't feel like losing $9 to a turn check-raise or $15 to some dude who'll just call down with KQ, KJ.

This is exactly how I feel at the casino - difficult to value bet when you routinely see premium hands oftentimes check/call down to the river, or even nice TPGK hands that we would bet the whole way.

How does the hand play if OP bets the flop, called around, and checked to again on the turn? with 3 remaining after flop bet? with 1? I'm going to venture fire turn against 1-2 opponents hoping for free showdown, and check/fold/surrender to 3-4 opponents?

C'mon, one of you veterans pull out an obscure acronym - UTYSABTF+T+R? ...or something.
