I HAVE THE ANSWER.

you cant stop double clicking pokerstars..get a friend to install a virus type piece of software on your computer that stops all pokerstars.exe fulltiltpoker.exe etc from running..it just shuts it down. sign an agreement with him which says you wont be able to ask him to switch it off somehow. and tell him not to tell you how to workaround it.

regarding playing live, that is a bit trickier. setup a contract with the casino staff where you sign a piece of paper with them which means when they are working they dont allow you entrance to the casino for lets say 3 days of the week (however much you dont want to play). You pay them at the end of the month if they do their job properly. My guess is a badly paid doorman/receptionist at a casino wouldn't mind making a few extra bucks agreeing not to let you in. They would do a good job otherwise your little contract would say they dont get paid at the end of the month.

if you really want to stop playing, but cant bring yoruself to do it. This is what you have to do.

WHat you think of the idea?

The software is at nomoregambling.com it's free and blocks most gambling sites. You can also manually enter sites you want it to block. (Recently i block facebook from myself because i was checkin out hot tail too much) anyways as far as the casino thing, they actually will throw you in jail/call cops if you set foot in the casino again. (one of the many stories I’ve heard while in GA) if you make an arrangement with the casino like that you better avoid that place like a herpes plagued sorority whore. Oh yea, I failed out of pharmacy school because I couldn't get a grip on my life. It actually turned out to be the best thing that's ever happened to me though cuz now I'm a business finance major and there are so many more hot babes in b-school. pharmacy school blows fyi, imo

There's a big world out there that's not on the internet. And few people have the type of money to travel the way you could. Study abroad. Or just go visit museums in France, smoke pot in Amsterdam, drink beer in Germany. Go on safari in Africa or climb mountains in Tibet. Visit the galapagos islands, and then the Amazon basin before you hit up carnival in Brazil.
I spent a year teaching English in South America, and very little beats floating down a black river in a boat listening to monkeys howl and bats skim the water while the sun sets over the Amazon. Plus you could do a fulfilling volunteer trip--something in medicine.
Much of this will clear your head and get you geared up to finish school. If you hate travel, definately try to re-join the sports team, as exercise will help kill the funk you've been in.

But if you are dancing salsa and drinking rum on a steamy night in Costa Rica, and you're still looking around each corner for a casino, consider biting the bullet and calling GA.

POTD.
Seriously.

I'm in my late 20s and very accomplished playing part-time. I would have given anything to have had online poker during my university years.

If you're 20 years old, have $250k in the bank, and don't know what to do with yourself, I feel no sympathy. Get a life, explore the world. I'm amazed at how many people in these forums have wads of cash, zero responsibility, and choose to spend every waking hour online.

Christ, invest all but $50K and go travel the world until you run out. That's what I'd do.

I can just say what most here have said.

A year ago poker consumed my life, I was never outside and only sat inside playing poker and reading 2+2 etc.

I just decided to change after that, for me life is about relationships, not only with girls but with people. I enjoy just hanging out so I've began doing that and at the same time I've been playing more poker than ever and built a small business.

What I'm saying though is that it doesn't have to consume your life and it doesn't have to be negative. You decide.

I've been playing for over 3 years now fwiw.

good luck sir

Thats the key. Look, I love to [censored], but if the only thing that I ever did was [censored], not only would I have to pay a ton of child support, but I'd also have a dick that resembled sandpaper. And, even as beautiful as I am, no chick wants to hop on top of a sandpaper dick.....even if it is 11 inches.

"Money doesnt buy you things...it buys you time. Time is the most precious commodity we have as you dont know how much you have left. So much of most people's time is spent earning a living (i.e. money). The less time you spend on earning a living the more time you have to actually live!"

very well said IMO
If you've ever worked a 20 hour day, or every weekend for years, or busted your ass for a check that barely pays bills, your opinion may change on how poker can improve your lifestyle.

If you don't like poker, why not treat it as a job? Only difference is you only have to work 20 hours a week, and get paid 12x what the Jones' make. All of the world dosen't like to work, but most of us grind that out for 40+ years.

12 hour days on the computer really just means you're not manging your life, or your game well. Instead of finding reason to lengthen your session, find reasons to cut it short...you might even get some sick satisfaction like you're playing hookie!

I dont think this explains many poker players who are having this problem.
