Default 2-5 NL live hand

I have 66 in MP and there are a couple limpers in front of me. I raise to $25 and all fold except for one of the EP limpers. The flop is 8d 9d 6s. Checks to me, I bet $40 and am called. The turn is Ac. The guy bets $60, I raise to $225, he thinks and calls. The river is 5c, he thinks and checks. Should I check or push for my last $300? He has me covered.

check, maybe i'm a pussy but i think he has you beat probably with a7. he also could have adxd and you might get a thin value bet out of him. but in general, i don't think he is calling that 300 on the river with hands that you beat

Check.

I don't think many hands worse than yours (i.e. 2-pair, etc.) will call a big bet on the river, but 7x for a straight is certainly in his range.

No need to bet when few hands that you beat will call.

If he has a good hand he is scared of 5 too, not much value from betting. I'm checking for sure.

I don't think he has you beat. If he has a better set the money probably gets in on the turn. If he has you beat on the river I'd be shocked if he would check his hand. That being said, there isn't much he could have that he'd call a river bet with. I don't mind a check here or even a small valuebet.

i think you are winning here but a check is probably best. you arent getting many hands calling (except maybe A9 calls a small bet)

interesting you raise pre here. is that your standard or was it table dynamics/variation? with a couple of early limpers my default is to limp and set mine with small pairs, though i do raise about 20% esp if i feel i have a good read on the table.

He may show you a 78 or a bigger set but I bet $155 or $175 or some random amount that looks fishie and call a push. I think he has Ax d or some other crap often enough that we have to bet and call a push.

If he has or a straight reload and post this in BBV.

it is not my standard. i had limped the last 3 or 4 small pocket pairs that i had in that position. i may have been a little steamy after losing a big pot and i wanted to win a monster if i flopped a set.

as for the hand in question, i did push on the river. i put him on two pair on the turn (A9 or A8) and i felt like he thought i had AK. i think he would have called w/ two pair. turns out he had Ad7d and he hit the straight. i thought he would have raised the flop with that hand or pushed the turn after my raise. i was wrong. it was a very thin bet on the river though on my part.
